A boy spends 1/4 of his pocket money on a toy and 2/3 on a record. What fraction of his pocket money has he spent and what fraction has he left?
His total pocket money is "1" so we can say he has this fraction left:
1 - 1/4 - 2/3 =
12/12 - 3/12 - 8/12 =
12/12 - 11/12 =
1/12
