Write the equation of a line parallel to 2x + 3y = 7 and contains the point ( -9,4 )

Lines that are parallel have the same slope. For our line
%0D%0A2x+%2B+3y+=+7%0D%0A
%0D%0AAx%2BBy=C%0D%0A
%0D%0Am=-B%2FA=-3%2F2%0D%0A
so using the point-slope form of the equation of a line we write:

%0D%0Ay-y%5B0%5D=m%28x-x%5B0%5D%29%0D%0A
or...
%0D%0Ay-4=%28-3%2F2%29%28x%2B9%29%0D%0A
