Solve the following equation for x, if 0 ≤ x ≤ 2π √2cosx=-1

√2cosx=-1 
cosx=-1%2Fsqrt%282%29=-sqrt%282%2F2%29 

The principle value is pi%2F4 
but our angle is negative so that puts our angle in quadrants II and III, meaning our solutions are 

%283pi%29%2F4 or %285pi%29%2F4
