Please help and explain: |x-7|>6

|x-7| > 6 means 
x-7 > 6 or x-7 < -6 
that is to say that x-7 is "past" 6 on the number line. So to the right it's greater, but to the left it has to be less than. When we simplify 
x >13 or x < 1
