Solve: (sin(2x)+cos(2x))^2=1

After expanding and simplifying we can write 
%0D%0A%28sin2x%2Bcos2x%29%5E2%0D%0A 

as 

sin4x%2B1%0D%0A 

Therfore 
%0D%0A%28sin2x%2Bcos2x%29%5E2=1%0D%0A 

becomes 

sin4x%2B1=1%0D%0A 

and so 


sin4x=0%0D%0A 


which has solutions... 

x=%28n%2Api%29%2F4 

where n is an integer.

Solve sec^2(x)+tan(x)-1=0

Assuming you mean solve the equation

Solution:


sec%28theta%29-2tan%28theta%29=0 

1%2Fcos%28theta%29-%282sin%28theta%29%29%2Fcos%28theta%29=0 

%281-2sin%28theta%29%29%2Fcos%28theta%29=0 

but the denominator contributes no zeros... 

1-2sin%28theta%29=0 


sin%28theta%29=1%2F2 

on 

0%3C=x%3C=2pi
theta=pi%2F6 
or 
theta=%285pi%29%2F6 

so the general solution is 

2+%2Api%2A+n%2Bpi%2F6
or
2%2A+pi+%2An%2B5pi%2F6
