The perimeter of a triangle is 73 centimeters. One side is 5 centimeters longer than the second side. The third side is 8 centimeters longer than triple the length of the first side. Find the length of each side.

Solution:

f-first side
s-second side
t-third side
The perimeter of a triangle is 73 centimeters means:
+%0D%0Af%2Bs%2Bt=73%0D%0A
One side is 5 centimeters longer than the second side means:
%0D%0Af=s%2B5%0D%0A

The third side is 8 centimeters longer than triple the length of the first side means:
t=3f+8

now...
%0D%0Af%2B%28f-5%29%2B%283f%2B8%29=73%0D%0A

then...
s=14-5=9

and
t=3%2A14%2B8=50

sides are: 9cm, 14cm, and 50cm
