3(x+9)= 3(x)+3(9) distributive
3(x+9)= 3(9+x) commutative
8m/m=8 multiplicative identity
8+(m-m)=8 additive identity
mn=nm commutative

what is the greatest 5-digit number that is divisible by both 24 and 50
we first determine that the lcm(24,50)=2^3*3*5^2=600
then we can multiply 600 until we achieve our goal
the result is 96,000
